Farrell invests in solar for a sustainable future

19.05.2025
Farrell is proud to announce the successful installation of 673 state-of-the-art solar panels at our manufacturing facility in Ardee, Co. Louth. Completed across November / December 2024, this project marks a key milestone in our efforts to embrace sustainability and energy efficiency.
Brendan Farrell, Joint-CEO of Farrell, commented on the milestone, saying; “We are very proud to be continuing our commitment to change by embracing more sustainable practices. This significant project will not only future proof our facility in Ardee but also contributes to a cleaner environment. The statistics speak for themselves.”

This solar installation is the latest in a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing sustainability and reducing the company’s carbon footprint. Just last year Farrell took the decision to switch its entire fleet of vehicles to HVO biofuel – an advanced alternative fuel derived from renewable resources such as waste oils and fats.
This switch has already resulted in an impressive 90% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to conventional diesel, significantly reducing the environmental impact of day-to-day operations.
What benefits will this bring?

What benefits will this bring?
The impact of this solar installation will see a number of benefits. Here’s the key points:
This investment in renewable energy marks a key step forward in Farrell’s broader environmental strategy.

In addition to cutting emissions, these initiatives also represent long-term investments in the resilience and future-readiness of Farrell’s business. By generating our own renewable energy and adopting low-emission transport solutions, Farrell is actively reducing its reliance on an increasingly unpredictable energy market while building a more sustainable foundation for future growth.
Together with our existing eco-friendly initiatives, this project demonstrates the efforts the company is going to in order to improve our environmental credentials.
