Ardee Community School will prepare the students for work life by assisting them in acquiring essential requirements such as a bank account, safe pass, manual handling course, provisional license, CV, and interview skills.
Anthony Durnin from Ardee Community School’s Construction & Woodwork Department said of the partnership; “the idea was born from the school wanting to develop links with local businesses to cater for students who have no real interest in pursuing college degrees and want to enter the working environment.
‘Earn as you Learn’ is a slogan that we encourage here at Ardee Community School. We have known both Brendan and Paul Farrell over the years and how successful Farrell are as a business and important they are to the town and we had an idea to link the woodwork department in the school with Farrell and they were very happy to accept”.

Excitement
Farrell’s Joint-CEO, Brendan Farrell, Joint-CEO of Farrell Furniture, expressed his excitement about the new partnership; “We are delighted to work with the students and teachers of Ardee Community School and to invest in the young people of the town, our future workers and leaders. Our corporate social responsibility policy is to ensure that we give back to our community and this is what this collaboration does. It is an opportunity to give back to the community that has supported our business for almost 62 years.”
