Farrell host Staff Appreciation Day to honour employees past and present

Time to celebrate

Management and staff at Farrell gathered to celebrate over 1,000 years of service from our employees, at a December pre-Christmas lunch in Ardee. Our team have been creating and manufacturing bespoke furniture since our foundation in 1961 and as a family-run business, we understand the importance that people have in the company’s success.

December also marked another significant milestone in our journey with the retirement of four long-serving employees. To acknowledge their commitment and the hard work of all our employees, a Staff Appreciation Event was held for all staff on Thursday the 5th of December on our grounds of our manufacturing plant in Ardee.

The event was hosted by Irene and Ollie Farrell, the husband and wife team that founded the business and Ollie’s brother Paddy, who also attended the celebration. Their sons, Paul and Brendan Farrell, joint CEOs of Farrell, welcomed everyone before presenting the four retiring service employees – Joe Fedigan, Stanley Woods, Jim Nulty and Pat McAdam – with gifts on behalf of the company.

In recent years Farrell has opened a UK office and has expanded successfully across the UK market and all members of the UK team also attended the event to celebrate.

Brendan Farrell praised the work and dedication of Ollie and Paddy Farrell in the formative years of the company, stating; “Growing up, furniture was a way of life for us.”

As well as recognising those that retired, the day also honoured members of staff who have each served in excess of 21 years at the company. They included Breda Farrell, Oliver Farrell, Seamus Melia, Sean Nulty, Mickey Duffy, David Fedigan, Joanne McShane, Glen McGuirk, Nicholas Dowdall, Declan Halpenny and Joe McCreesh.

Farrell’s core business is the manufacturing of private office furniture with the additional focus in recent years on student accommodation and build-to-rent housing. In 2021 Farrell will celebrate our 60th year in business as we transition into our third generation of the family business.

All involved remain focused on innovating and investing ahead of time, including in new machinery that allows us to compete in new sectors and markets.
